Magic, Imbuing, friends and chat

This is our biggest update yet. Magic is here, along with Imbuing, the skill you use to make its spells. You can now add friends, chat, and gift membership, and your clan has a new home.

Imbuing

Imbuing is a new skill. Hold a stretch at an Imbuing stone to turn clay tablets into runes. Find it under Train, in the Imbue tab. Higher levels give two, then three runes from each tablet.

Mine clay from the new clay rock, or get raw clay from Peasants, Zombie Farmers and Ghouls. Make clay tablets at the Crafting Bench.

Magic

Magic is now a skill you train. Make spells at the Spell Altar from runes and ingredients, then cast them with a staff. Spells are free up to 40 Magic. Spells above that are for members.

Friends, chat and clans

• Add friends, see who is online and what they are doing, and chat with them. Friends has three tabs: Friends, Requests and Blocked.
• Tap any player to see their profile. From there you can add them, message them, gift them membership or report them.
• Clans have a chat, and leaders can pin a message.
• A new clan home shows who is online, the pinned message, the clan boss, chat beside the clan feed, and today's top 10.
• Clans now rank by Glory, which counts each rep by how hard its exercise is. New Glory boards rank clans by today, this week, this month and all time, against clans of a similar size.
• Owners and leaders can pick a Clan Trophy from what clanmates have beaten or found.

Gifts

• Gift 1 or 12 months of membership to any player.
• Gift your clan 1 to 10 one-month memberships. They go to clanmates who have trained this week.
• Givers get a present beside their name for 30 days and a place on the new Benefactors board.

• There is a new screen before every fight.
• Melee now counts toward combat level the same as Ranged and Magic, so some combat levels go down. Tap your combat level to see how it is worked out.
• High knees are no longer used in fights. The Skeletal Horse is now fought with jumping jacks, the Warg with lunges and the Barrow Wight with squats.
• Adversaries fought with jumping jacks have more health.
• Raiding contracts mix more adversaries, rarely give the same one twice in a row, and can include adversaries up to 20 levels above your combat level.
• Gear and arrows check your level when you equip them.

Gathering, crafting and shops

• Mining and Woodcutting get faster as you level up. Each level above a rock's or tree's own level makes it a little faster, up to 25% faster.
• You can find thorns while gathering sticks and stones.
• Pendants pay more Crafting XP.
• Tap a missing ingredient to see how to get it.
• Every shop has a name, a shopkeeper and stock on each item.

Exercises and steps

• The high plank counts when you face the phone.
• Push-ups are a little more forgiving, and push-up handles count again.
• Lunges are counted more reliably.
• Steps from your watch during a gathering walk are banked.
• Exercise Tutorials shows the wizard's videos.

Account

• Players who are not members get one free name change.
• Notifications arrive in your language.
• Signing in keeps your guest progress and history.

Fixes

• Fixed a crash on start-up on some Android 10 to 13 phones.
• Home's step count now always matches Gather.
• Level-ups in the gathering chat show in your language.
• The Archer's coif hides the beard.
• The clan leaderboard orders by Today, then Total.
